My Horrible Experience With A Dr. Shanker, ( A Dermatologist In Chicago and Gurnee, IL)

I am writing this because I never want anyone to experience the horrible experience I had with Dr. Shanker at http://dermatology-chicago.com/. They are located in Chicago and Gurnee. This doctor is only about money and doesn't care about his patients.

I went to visit this Dr. Shanker in his gurnee office because I was experiencing a bad break out with my acne. I had to wait to see him the usual 45 minutes when you see a doctor.

Once I was seated inside he came in. You could tell from his attitude that he was just seeing patient in a fast speed so that he could get in and out.

I told him about my acne problem, he took a look at it with his bare eyes and then sat down and started writing his prescription. He did not examine my face or anything. Then I was out of his office and he was charging me $100 for his visit.

I did not have insurance so I paid the $100 and left his office. The medication cost $1oo to fill. I did so deligently because afterall Dr. Shanker is a doctor and knows what he's talking about.

I started using the prescription and noticed that instead of my face getting better, it was getting worse. Now as I said before I don't have insurance and this just cost me $2oo. So I did what any normal thinking human being would do. I called the doctor's office.

The person who asnswered the phone a "Linda" told me that she would talk to the doctor and then get back to me. The "Linda" called back and told me that the Dr. Shanker told me to stop taking one of the medication that I spent $40 on, to stop taking it.

She said that Dr. Shanker had had many complains with the medication and was asking me to stop taking it. And that I should continue taking the product that I was taking and see what happens.

That was on a Thursday and I stopped taking the second medication and continued with the first. During the weekend I noticed that my face was still breaking out so I decided that I would call on Monday.

I again called on Monday and spoke again with "Linda" which told me that she would set up another appointment to see this moron Dr. Shanker. I asked her if I would have to pay to see him because I did not have insurance. She said she would talk to him and call me back.

The "Linda" called me back later to inform me that I did not have to make another visit to the doctor but he would again give me another prescription and I would have to pay for the medication.

Now if you are following this you are seeing something here:

1. I took my time to see this Dr. Shanker about a acne problem.
2. I paid him $100 for about 7 minutes
3. I paid $100 on prescription that did not work
4. My acne got worse
5. I had to endure the pain and sadness of walking around with a horrible looking face

Let's see what Dr. Shanker lose

NOTHING

I went to a doctor to solve my acne problem and ended up with a greater problem that I would now have to find more money to fix. Also I am not sure if the other prescription that he would prescribe would work so now I have to find another doctor to see about my acne.

If you are ever in the need of a dermatologist do not see Dr. Shanker. He is a money grabbing person who does not care about people but is only concerning about making money from people who are in pain.

I do hope that this will help another person in chicago who is looking for a dermatologist and might find the name chicago-dermatologist.com. Don't go there, all they will do is take your money and will not help you.

It is a shame that during these tough economic times that people go to these doctors and have to spend money and not get the remedy they need.

If you need to see a dermatologist, please ask friends and family but don't just jump on the internet and call the first quack that comes up that puts up a shingle calling himself a doctor.

It quite funny that this Dr. Quack Shanker did not even bother to come on the phone and speak to me. He had already taken my money and he no longer wanted to deal with me unless I had more money to throw at him.

Please avoid this doctor, seek doctors who actually care about their patients. And stay away from quacks such as Dr. Quack Shanker who calls himself a doctor but who is actaully a charlot.

  1. OMG, I can't believe you. If I were the doctor, I would sue you for libel. You saw him once and expected an immediate cure.

  2. I've been to this Doc plenty of times and hes always helped me out and ive gotten better. Be it that my visits were for wart and mole removal, they never came back and no scars... boo yaa. Sorry u had a bad experience. I also agree with the comment above. Proactive is $50 and it kicks ass, try that.

  3. My whole family has seen Dr. Shankar, he is an amazing doctor! He is so patient and kind with my autistic son, not all doctors are. I trust him completely to provide the absolute finest care. It is unfortunate that your issue was not resolved on the first visit but since everyone's body is different it is impossible to know what will work for you. I believe he did attempt to help by not making you come in for a second appointment before trying a new medication. Most doctors do not have the time to call patients over minor issues. I think it is awful to write such an awful review over one appointment!

  4. Dr. Shankar is one of the best dermatologists out there. He doesn't sugar coat anything and tells you how it it is. For acne,he will often prescribe things that will make the problem worse before it gets better. You need to be patient, trust what he says and perhaps change your insurance plan.
